Wigs for Black Women – What Could be Responsible for My Wig Losing Grip too Early?

wigs for black women, lace front wigs for black womenThe most popular wigs for black women, the lace wigs are typically applied with special adhesive. The wig will appear most fashionable and natural when it stands firm on your head all the way till you are ready to uninstall the wig. If your African American wig starts losing grip or lifting from your head much earlier, the following could be responsible;

Not Cleaning Off Excess Oil and Dirt from the Hairline and Nape

Before applying lace wigs adhesive, ensure that your hairline area and nape are thoroughly cleaned with rubbing grade alcohol. These areas that the adhesive would be applied must be oil-free to facilitate the effectiveness of the adhesive.

Too Much Hair on Your Nape
Most women have excess hair on their nape, this can prevent the glue from sticking on firmly. Although some people would prefer to remove the hair from the nape, it is not necessary. It may be helpful to part the hair just above the crease of your neck, then apply the glue on the part. This can help improve nape bonding with adhesive.

Your Position while Working on the Nape
If you are applying lace front wigs wigs for black women, the nape of the wig should be bonded in the crease or bend of your neck. To locate the crease, hold your head backwards, facing the ceiling. When you feel and locate the crease, place the bottom of your lace front wigs above the crease, not below it.
The Size of the Wig
By experience, ‘too small’ lace front wigs for black women do not facilitate firm bonding. The high point of ensuring accurate size of your African American wig is taking the ‘nape to front’ measurement accurately. This is the measurement that starts from the forehead and finishes at the nape. When this measurement is taken incorrectly (too short), it would be difficult to pull your wig sufficiently far down backwards, for proper gluing.
